President of the Rotary Club takes on skydive in support of the hospice

President of the Rotary Club of South Ribble, Tony Stevens, took on the challenge of a 15,000 foot skydive in support of St Catherine’s Hospice.

There are 10 local rotary clubs around Preston, which support the hospice. During Tony’s second and final year of being president, he has taken on a number of challenges, one of which was St Catherine’s skydive.

Tony Stevens said: “When I signed up to the skydive it was an impulse decision, and I didn’t think about free falling the 15,000 feet until the day.

“My instructor Lee Rhodes was really supportive and spoke to me throughout, it was only until I sat ready to jump out of the plane that I felt nervous.”

He added: “The weather was beautiful, my wife Susan and I had a great day out and I loved the free fall – I was travelling 167 miles an hour.”

Tony’s club funded the first initial cost of the skydive and he raised £820 for the hospice.
